UMaT Students Receive Next Batch of “No-Fees-Stress” Allowance
In a significant relief to students of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), the No-Fees-Stress allowance has officially been disbursed to the next group of eligible beneficiaries. This financial support, initiated to ease the burden of tertiary education costs, is aimed at ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial hardship.
The latest payment comes as part of a phased disbursement process, with the university management confirming that funds have been successfully credited to GCB Bank accounts of the new batch. Students are being urged to check their accounts to verify receipt.
The No-Fees-Stress initiative is one of several student-centered interventions championed by UMaT to promote inclusivity, financial access, and uninterrupted academic progress. The allowance covers a portion of tuition-related expenses and has been warmly welcomed by students, many of whom have been vocal about the growing financial strain on their academic journeys.
Speaking to UNEX, a student from the Faculty of Mineral Resources Technology shared her joy: “This is a huge relief. We’ve been waiting for weeks, and I’m so glad it has finally come through. Now I can clear my arrears and focus on my final project.”
Meanwhile, university authorities have reassured the remaining students still awaiting their payment that additional batches will follow soon. They encouraged patience and urged students to ensure their banking details with the university remain up to date to avoid delays.
The No-Fees-Stress payment is a clear demonstration of UMaT’s commitment to student welfare and academic empowerment. At a time when many families continue to grapple with economic pressures, such interventions go a long way in preserving the right to education for all.
