Prof. Michael Adewumi, Provost of IES Abroad, visited the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to explore a strategic academic partnership aimed at establishing a Centre of Excellence for the Study of History and Legacies of the Transatlantic Trade. Given UCC’s location near historic slave trade sites, Prof. Adewumi emphasized its suitability for such a center and proposed collaboration with UCC’s Centre for African and International Studies.
UCC’s Registrar, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, welcomed the initiative and praised Prof. Adewumi’s efforts in promoting historical studies. Prof. Moses Eghan, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, also backed the proposal, affirming UCC’s readiness to host the center. Prof. Adewumi was accompanied by Stephen Appiah-Padi of Bucknell University during the visit.
