IERIS-UEW Public Lecture Promotes Inclusive and Gender-Sensitive Education
The University of Education, Winneba’s IERIS, in partnership with GNECC, hosted a national lecture on advancing inclusive and gender-sensitive education in Ghana. Under the theme “Bridging the Gap,” the event brought together educators, researchers, and policymakers to address persistent educational inequalities, especially for girls and children with disabilities.
Prof. Hope Pius Nudzor emphasized research-driven reforms and urged engagement with policymakers. Dr. Adams Awini advocated for equity-focused classroom strategies like Universal Design for Learning. Prof. Samuel Hayford revealed that over 1.2 million children remain out of school, citing gaps in teacher training and infrastructure.
GNECC’s Festus Longmatey highlighted community-based initiatives promoting inclusive education. The event called for a united, practical effort to embed inclusion into teaching, policy, and grassroots advocacy.
