The UDS Department of Environment and Sustainability Sciences was honored during Ghana’s 2025 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought for its leadership in sustainable land use and climate resilience. Under the theme “Restore the Land. Unlock the Opportunities,” the event highlighted land restoration’s role in food security and green jobs. MESTI led national activities, culminating in a special award presented by Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed in Tamale. The recognition celebrates UDS’s impact through research, education, and community engagement in Ghana’s climate-vulnerable northern regions, spotlighting local solutions to environmental challenges.
