GES Releases GH¢15.85 Million to Fund 2025 WASSCE Practical Exams
In a landmark move to support Ghanaian senior high school students, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has released GH¢15,849,920 nationwide to cover practical examination fees for Form Three (final-year) students participating in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The initiative aims to eliminate financial barriers and ensure all learners are adequately equipped for the upcoming practical assessments.
A press statement signed by Daniel Fenyi , Head of Public Relations at GES, confirms that the disbursed funds are designated for procuring essential materials and resources required during the practical exams. “The release of these funds is intended to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process,” Fenyi noted, emphasizing that students should be able to focus wholly on their academic performance without the added stress of exam costs.
Central to GES’s message is the alleviation of financial pressure on parents and guardians. With high costs historically associated with practical assessments , covering equipment, reagents, and consumables , the organization's intervention ensures that families are not unduly burdened at a critical academic juncture.
To ensure responsible use of the funds, regional, district, and school-level authorities have been instructed to apply the financial aid strictly toward its intended purpose. According to GES, close monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to guarantee transparency and accountability in resource allocation. “Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” the statement added.
The GES also acknowledged and appreciated the cooperation of stakeholders including educators, examination centers, and parents in advancing the goal of delivering quality education across the country. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where every student has the tools and support needed to succeed academically.
As practical examinations near, schools are expected to deploy the allocated funds promptly in preparation, enabling students to approach their assessments with confidence and support.
