Breaking News: Two Students Killed in Nalerigu School Shooting
Two students, Lukman and Gideon, were fatally shot by unidentified gunmen at Nalerigu Senior High School in Ghana’s North East Region early Saturday, July 26, 2025. The attackers stormed the dormitory around midnight, in an incident possibly linked to the Bawku tribal conflict. This follows a similar killing at Bawku Senior High School hours earlier.
Police have secured the scene, with the victims’ bodies sent for autopsy. The community is reeling, and fear has gripped students. A curfew from 2:00 PM to 6:00 AM has been imposed in Nalerigu to prevent further violence. Security at the school is tightened as investigations continue.
Headmaster Mohammed Tibila called the attack a “tragic development,” urging better safety measures. The government is calling for calm amid rising tensions, as the region grapples with ongoing ethnic conflicts.
