UDS Scientist. Dr. Opoku, Participates in Global Food Safety Talks at 18th Codex Contaminants Session in Bangkok
The 18th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods (CCCF) concluded in Bangkok, uniting global experts to update food safety standards. Ghana was represented by Dr. Nelson Opoku of UDS, a key contributor on mycotoxins, especially aflatoxins. As a member of both Ghana’s Codex Committee and the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives, Dr. Opoku emphasized science-backed proposals. Discussions focused on food contaminants from natural, environmental, and industrial sources. The session reinforced global collaboration to ensure food safety and fair trade. Outcomes will shape future policies, with the next CCCF session set for 2026.
