UDS Convocation 2025: Vice-Chancellor Unveils Major Milestones, Urges Unity at Well-Attended Meeting
The University for Development Studies (UDS) held its 2025 Convocation on July 3 at the new Nursing and Midwifery Auditorium in Tamale. Key officials, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, and senior staff attended.
The Registrar welcomed attendees and initiated elections for the University’s Disciplinary Committee, electing four top academics. Prof. Al-hassan praised UDS’s performance in global rankings, noted the launch of a new Faculty of Law, and celebrated 7,000+ graduates.
He highlighted the Africa Leadership Lecture, 6 honorary degrees awarded, and strong admissions: 20,000+ applicants, 6,000 admitted. UDS guesthouses made over GHS 2.5M.
Concerns raised included infrastructure, water issues, and academic unit categorization. The meeting ended with a call for unity and continued excellence.
