SPED-UEW Partners Multikids to Train Educators in Appropriate Paper Technology
The Department of Special Education at UEW partnered with Multikids Inclusive Academy for a week-long hands-on workshop in Accra on Appropriate Paper-Based Technology (APT). The training taught lecturers and students how to create low-cost adaptive learning and mobility aids using recycled materials like cardboard, benefiting children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Led by APT expert Patrick Sakyi Oppong and supported by SPED leadership and Multikids founder Amanda Budge, the program empowered participants to build inclusive tools like chairs and communication devices. These skills will now be integrated into UEW’s curriculum to enhance practical learning, boost employability, and promote inclusive education nationwide.
