Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Achieves 7th Place in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025
Kumasi, Ghana – Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has been ranked 7th among the best universities in Ghana in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, announced on June 18, 2025. This recognition highlights KsTU's outstanding commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in Quality Education, Innovative Teaching, Research, Practical Skills Development, and Sustainability.
Out of 2,526 institutions evaluated worldwide, only 11 universities in Ghana—both public and private—secured a place in the rankings, with KsTU standing out among the top performers nationally. The THE Impact Rankings assess universities across four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching, using carefully calibrated indicators to measure progress toward the 17 SDGs. This year’s rankings saw an 18% increase in participation, reflecting growing global emphasis on sustainability in higher education.
KsTU’s achievement aligns with its mission to provide world-class technical and entrepreneurial education, as noted in its profile from the THE World University Rankings. The university, with a student body of over 12,000 across various faculties, emphasizes competency-based training and has introduced initiatives like scholarships for women in STEM to address gender disparities. This ranking underscores KsTU’s efforts to align its programs with industry needs and sustainable practices, as it continues to expand its research output and community impact.
