CEGRAD Empowers Women Leaders to Combat Child Marriage
The Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) at the University of Cape Coast has urged women leaders to take the lead in fighting child marriage, gender-based violence, and harmful cultural practices. Speaking at a workshop in Cape Coast, Dr. Yvonne Ami Adjakloe emphasized the need for consistent stakeholder collaboration and accountability, urging communities to report crimes like rape and defilement to the police. Supported by the UNFPA and the Central Regional Coordinating Council, the event brought together queen mothers, religious leaders, and youth groups. CEGRAD Director Prof. Eunice Fay Amissah called for nationwide awareness and action.
