UDS To Host 20th Inaugural Lecture By Prof. Weseh Addah on Harnessing Crop Residues To Tackle Livestock Importation From Sahel Region
The University for Development Studies (UDS) will host its 20th Inaugural Lecture on Friday, June 27, 2025, featuring Professor Weseh Addah, a leading scholar and Director of DCROP. The lecture, themed “Appropriate Technologies in the Conservation and Utilization of Crop Residues”, will explore innovative ways to convert crop waste into livestock feed, reducing Ghana’s dependence on imported ruminants.
Prof. Addah will present findings from over two decades of research in ruminant nutrition, advocating for sustainable, locally adaptable feed solutions to boost livestock productivity and national food security. UDS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Seidu Al-Hassan praised the lecture’s relevance to UDS’s mission of practical, community-focused education.
A respected academic and rural development advocate, Prof. Addah has held multiple leadership roles at UDS and contributed extensively to research, outreach, and national policy. The lecture is open to the public and aims to spark actionable dialogue among stakeholders in agriculture and food systems.
