UPSA hosts two-day Graduate Practitioners’ Forum to prepare graduates for the world of work
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) hosted a two-day Graduate Practitioners’ Forum organized by the School of Graduate Studies to equip graduate leavers with practical skills for career success. Industry leaders shared insights on career development, professional branding, and resilience. Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Acting Deputy Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, emphasized resilience and thinking beyond traditional career paths, noting that a degree isn’t an automatic ticket to success. Ivy Heward-Mills, Director of UPSA’s Centre for International Education and Collaboration, highlighted the importance of professional presence, stating that 93% of first impressions are non-verbal and stressing grooming, posture, and communication skills. UPSA Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor and Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, CEO of Rigworld Solutions, also shared insights on leadership and navigating the job market. The forum bridged academic training and workplace demands.
