KNUST Announces Strict Measures Against Reckless Driving on Campus

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced strict measures to curb reckless and dangerous driving on campus, particularly activities linked to student election campaigns and celebrations following election results.

Management said it has become increasingly concerned about incidents involving excessive speeding and dangerous vehicle processions, which pose risks to students, staff and other members of the University community.

Under the new measures, students found engaging in reckless driving will face disciplinary action in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations.

KNUST Security Services have also been instructed to stop and impound vehicles found to be involved in dangerous driving. Students participating in unlawful or unsafe activities may be apprehended and handed over to the Police, while their identities will be established for further internal disciplinary action.

The University said the measures are intended to protect lives and property and prevent activities that could result in accidents or other serious incidents on campus.

Management has therefore urged students to celebrate responsibly, particularly during periods of student elections and the declaration of results, and to conduct themselves in ways that uphold the values and reputation of KNUST.

The University called on students to cooperate with the new measures and help maintain a safe environment for the entire campus community.
