The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and FirstBank Ghana are exploring a potential partnership to strengthen links between professional education and the banking industry.

The discussions took place during a meeting on Friday, October 9, 2026, between FirstBank Ghana Chief Executive Officer Osahon Ogieva and UPSA Vice-Chancellor Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor.

The meeting considered possible areas of collaboration, including student mentorship, internships, financial literacy and industry engagement.

If formalised, the partnership could provide students with opportunities to gain practical industry knowledge and better understand how academic concepts apply in the workplace.

Mentorship and internship programmes could expose students to professional practices and workplace expectations, while financial literacy initiatives could help them develop skills in budgeting, saving, borrowing and responsible financial decision-making.

The engagement reflects UPSA’s efforts to strengthen its relationships with industry and connect academic training with the needs of employers.

However, no specific initiatives have been confirmed. Any collaboration will depend on further discussions and a formal agreement between the two institutions.
