UENR Secures UK Accreditation to Run International CILT Professional Courses

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has secured a three-year accreditation from the United Kingdom to run professional courses under the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).

The accreditation allows UENR to offer international CILT programmes at the certificate, diploma and advanced diploma levels, creating opportunities for students and professionals seeking recognised qualifications in logistics and transport.

Mr Emmanuel Kankam-Boadu, Chairman of the Sunyani Section of CILT and Procurement Officer at UENR, disclosed the development in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.

An accompanying accreditation certificate, numbered A2026/UENR/00001, confirms the approval and was signed by Jan Sternberg, the International President of CILT. The accreditation is valid until July 26, 2029.

According to Mr Kankam-Boadu, the accreditation will enable Ghanaian professionals and students to gain exposure to international approaches to challenges affecting the transport and logistics sector.

He noted that the programmes would provide opportunities to learn how countries including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia and South Africa address issues such as urban congestion, port operations, freight movement, public transportation, supply chains and road safety.

Mr Kankam-Boadu expressed the hope that the CILT courses would enable students and professionals in the transport and logistics sector to pursue higher international qualifications while strengthening their professional development.

He added that the programmes would also support networking and career opportunities while helping students and professionals understand international supply-chain requirements and contribute to Ghana’s competitiveness.

The CILT Sunyani Chairman further emphasised the commitment of CILT Ghana professionals to serve as a bridge between Ghana’s national development priorities and global expertise in transport and logistics.

He also called for greater attention to emerging challenges in Ghana’s transport sector, including urban congestion, public transportation, road safety, ports and maritime logistics, railway systems and multimodal transport.

The accreditation positions UENR to provide an additional pathway for students and professionals seeking international professional training in logistics and transport, while strengthening opportunities for career development and knowledge exchange in the sector.
