KNUST Vice-Chancellor Holds Talks with Government and Public Institutions

The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare, has engaged key government and public institutions as part of efforts to strengthen the University’s partnerships and support its development plans.

One of the major areas discussed was the development of KNUST’s Teaching Hospital, following a meeting between Professor Agyare and the Minister for Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu.

The discussions focused on government support for KNUST’s development agenda, including possible funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to help complete the University’s Teaching Hospital.

Mr. Iddrisu also emphasised the need for KNUST to maintain its position as Ghana’s leading science and technology institution and continue contributing to national development.

Professor Agyare also visited the Office of the Chief of Staff at Jubilee House, where he met Dr. Julius Debrah.

The visit was to thank Dr. Debrah for his support and attendance at Professor Agyare’s investiture ceremony on August 1, 2026. The Vice-Chancellor presented him with a commemorative plaque produced by KNUST’s Department of Art and Industrial Art.

The plaque, which was designed and produced by students and staff of the University, was also commended by Dr. Debrah.

At the Ghana Armed Forces’ Burma Camp, Professor Agyare met with the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, to express appreciation for his participation in the investiture ceremony.

Professor Agyare said the visit was part of his effort to personally thank the CDS for making time to attend the ceremony.

“Out of his busy schedule, the CDS still managed to come and be part of my investiture at KNUST on August 1. As is customary, I have come to express my appreciation.”

The Ghana Armed Forces also highlighted its existing relationship with KNUST. Air Vice Marshal Joshua Mensah Larkai, who received the plaque on behalf of Lieutenant General Agyapong, said the two institutions are working towards signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), particularly in relation to a medical facility.

He also called for continued support for members of the Armed Forces whose children seek admission to KNUST.

Professor Agyare’s engagements also extended to the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) as the University seeks to strengthen cooperation within the health sector.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by KNUST officials including the Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Owusu, Finance Officer Dr. Charles Nsiah, Senior Registrar and Head of the University’s Accra Office Dr. (Mrs.) Joy S. Amankwah, Mr. Emmanuel Offei of the University Relations Office, and Ing. Eugene Antwi Boasiako.

The engagements form part of efforts by the KNUST administration to build stronger relationships with national institutions and advance collaboration in education, healthcare, research and national development.
