UCC Wins TBSC Version 8.0 After Three-Way Grand Finale

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has emerged winner of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC) Version 8.0, finishing ahead of the University of Ghana, Legon and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at the Grand Finale on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

UCC finished on 39.5 points, while UG Legon scored 29 points to place second and KNUST recorded 24.5 points for third place.

The turning point came in Round 3, where UCC scored 18.5 points to pull ahead of the other finalists. KNUST also had a strong showing with 17 points, while UG scored 14.5 points.

UCC entered the Grand Finale after defeating Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) in the semi-final with 45 points to secure its place among the final three.

KNUST came into the contest as the defending champion, having won the previous edition. The university also extended its record to six consecutive Grand Finale appearances, after narrowly defeating Accra Technical University 27–26 in the semi-final.

UG Legon completed the three-school final after securing a semi-final victory over Pentecost University.

The final was contested over five rounds, testing the teams on areas including business, finance, economics, entrepreneurship and practical business knowledge.

UCC started with 9 points in Round 1 and 5 points in Round 2 before producing its decisive 18.5-point performance in Round 3. The university then added 1 point in Round 4 and 6 points in Round 5 to finish on 39.5 points.

UG accumulated 6, 2.5, 14.5, 3 and 3 points across the five rounds, while KNUST recorded 6, 1.5, 17, 0 and 0 points.

The Grand Finale was held at Zenith University College in Accra and brought together three of Ghana’s leading tertiary institutions in a closely contested battle for the TBSC Version 8.0 title.

The TBSC is organised by Graphic Business in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) to strengthen practical business knowledge, financial literacy and critical thinking among tertiary students.

UCC’s victory sees the university crowned TBSC Version 8.0 champions, with UG finishing second and defending champions KNUST taking third place.
