The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following a reported allegation of sexual assault involving a student of the school.
According to GES, the student is a special needs student who is on medication. Preliminary information indicates that she suffered a relapse and required medical attention on the day of the alleged incident.
The two watchmen were arrested and handed over to the Police to assist with investigations. GES has also interdicted them with immediate effect while the investigation continues.
The Service says the outcome of the investigations will determine the appropriate sanctions under the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
GES has stressed that it will not tolerate conduct that compromises the safety, dignity and wellbeing of students and has assured parents, guardians and the public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
