Mr. Michael Opare Atuah Sworn In as University of Ghana Registrar

The University of Ghana has officially sworn in Mr. Michael Opare Atuah as its new Registrar, marking the beginning of his tenure in one of the institution’s key administrative positions.

As Registrar, Mr. Atuah will oversee the University’s administrative and operational functions and support the implementation of its 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, with a focus on advancing excellence in teaching, learning, research and service.

Speaking at the ceremony, University Chancellor Mrs. Mary Chinery-Hesse urged the new Registrar to uphold the institution’s statutes, traditions and values while carrying out his responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and dedication.

The Chancellor also recognised the contributions of the outgoing Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, commending her for her service and commitment to the University.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, speaking on behalf of Senior Management, expressed confidence in Mr. Atuah’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the University’s continued growth and transformation. She also acknowledged the work of the outgoing Registrar in strengthening the institution’s administrative structures.

Mr. Atuah becomes the 10th Registrar of the University of Ghana. In his remarks, he pledged to build on the work of his predecessors by improving administrative systems, promoting operational efficiency and encouraging innovation in service delivery.

His tenure is expected to support the University’s broader ambition of achieving global impact through innovative research, teaching and learning, while embracing a technology-driven and people-centred approach to administration.

The University community has welcomed Mr. Atuah into his new role and wished him success as he begins his tenure.
