The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Hospital has been accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) of Ghana as an approved facility for the clinical training of nursing and midwifery students and the administration of the Council’s Practical Licensing Examinations.
The accreditation follows a comprehensive assessment by the N&MC, which confirmed that the Hospital meets the required standards for clinical education, examination administration and the provision of a safe learning environment. The approval takes effect from July 2026 and will remain valid for an initial period of two years, subject to review.
In a letter addressed to the Director of UEW Health Services, Dr. John Kanyiri Yamba, the Council stated that the Hospital had satisfied all the necessary requirements to serve as a training and examination centre for nursing and midwifery students. It also encouraged the facility to maintain the standards required to support quality clinical training and professional assessment.
The accreditation represents a major milestone for the UEW Hospital, strengthening its role in healthcare delivery and professional education. It also positions the facility as a recognised centre for preparing future nurses and midwives, contributing to the development of a competent healthcare workforce for Ghana.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council commended the Hospital for its commitment to advancing professional standards in nursing and midwifery education.
