Prof. Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu has officially assumed office as Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS) following a handover ceremony held at the Central Administration Block on the Tamale Campus on Monday, 29th June, 2026.
The transition comes after the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) directed Prof. Seidu Al-hassan to immediately hand over leadership of the university amid delays in the change of administration.
In his farewell remarks, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan advised his successor to uphold integrity and remain guided by the university’s core values in the discharge of his duties.
Prof. Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu, in his response, pledged an open-door and inclusive leadership style, assuring stakeholders of a transparent administration focused on the growth and development of UDS.
GTEC had earlier expressed concern over delays in the transition, stressing that smooth leadership change is essential for effective governance in public universities.
The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to lead UDS into a new phase of academic and institutional development.
