Nearly 500 nurses have been admitted into specialised training programmes under the Mahama Care Initiative to strengthen Ghana’s capacity to provide advanced healthcare services.

Speaking at a joint matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said the programme will equip nurses with expertise in Emergency, Critical Care, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Oncology Nursing to improve specialist healthcare delivery nationwide.

The initiative forms part of efforts to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases and enhance access to quality healthcare, with students encouraged to uphold professionalism, discipline and excellence throughout their training.
