Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo is reportedly receiving medical treatment following an alleged shooting incident near the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, also known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.
According to multiple media reports, the incident occurred on Sunday during activities linked to Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena’s bid to succeed his late father, Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo, as head of the Kristo Asafo Mission. Tensions reportedly escalated at the residence, prompting police from the Dome District to intervene and restore order.
Witnesses claim that armed men allegedly linked to the succession dispute opened fire on a vehicle carrying the former MP. Reports indicate that about 15 gunshots were fired, with one bullet said to have grazed her near the neck.
Sarah Adwoa Safo was reportedly rushed to a medical facility, where she is said to be in stable condition.
The incident is believed to be connected to an ongoing family dispute over the succession and management of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s legacy and properties. The succession process has reportedly generated legal challenges, with some family members opposing the installation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.
As of the time of reporting, the Ghana Police Service has not officially confirmed the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting or the identities of those involved. Investigations are expected to establish the facts of the incident.
