Government Secures Major Reduction in MTN Fibre Broadband Prices
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has announced significant reductions in the cost of MTN Ghana’s fibre broadband packages following engagements between government and the telecom operator.

In a statement shared on social media, the Minister revealed that negotiations led to a downward review of the company’s unlimited broadband plans to make high-speed internet more affordable and accessible to consumers.

Under the revised pricing structure, the previous GH¢987 monthly charge for an unlimited 100 Mbps package has been reduced to GH¢299. A new unlimited 300 Mbps package has also been introduced at GH¢444 per month, while a higher-tier 500 Mbps unlimited plan will now cost GH¢999.

According to Sam George, the adjustments were achieved after sustained discussions with MTN Ghana aimed at addressing concerns over the high cost of internet services in the country. He noted that government remains committed to ensuring affordable and reliable broadband connectivity that meets the growing digital needs of citizens.

The Minister commended MTN Ghana for cooperating with government to improve service affordability and customer value. He also indicated that further engagements with industry players will continue to secure better internet packages and expand digital access nationwide.

The price reduction is expected to benefit households, businesses, students, remote workers and content creators who rely heavily on stable and high-speed internet services.

Although MTN Ghana is yet to issue a detailed official statement on the new packages, the development is being described as one of the most significant reductions in fibre broadband pricing in Ghana in recent years.
