The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned the violent assault on two teachers and destruction of property at Bawku Senior High School in the Upper East Region.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit, GES described the incident as unacceptable and linked it to the strict enforcement of examination rules during the ongoing WASSCE.

According to the Service, the actions of the students involved are unjustifiable and go against the core values of discipline, respect and integrity expected in schools.

GES stressed that attacks on teachers in the line of duty pose a serious threat to school safety and undermine the education system. It added that such behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Security personnel have since been deployed to the school to restore order, with academic and examination activities continuing under enhanced security protection.

The affected teachers are currently receiving medical attention and support.

GES further announced that a full investigation is underway in collaboration with security agencies to identify all those involved. It warned that anyone found culpable will face both disciplinary action and the full rigours of the law.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe and disciplined learning environments across all schools in the country.
