The University of Ghana has introduced stricter regulations governing the issuance of introductory letters for visa and passport applications following rising concerns over fraudulent documentation.
According to a notice from the University Registrar, embassies have recently intensified verification checks on applicants claiming affiliation with the institution, leading to the detection of several falsified introductory letters.
To protect its credibility and ensure proper verification processes, the University has directed that all requests for introductory letters must now be processed only through officially designated offices.
The notice further instructs all unauthorized units within the University to stop issuing such letters immediately.
It also warns that staff or students found to be involved in the production or use of fraudulent letters will face disciplinary action and possible criminal prosecution.
Management has urged full compliance from all members of the University community as part of efforts to safeguard institutional integrity and maintain trust with international partners.
