Accra Technical University (ATU) has entered into a new partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and African American Male Education and Network Development (A2MEND) to broaden international academic opportunities for its students.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on August 14, 2026, provides a framework for collaboration through the Pan African Virtual College (PAVC), connecting students, faculty and institutions in Ghana and California.

Under the partnership, ATU students could access opportunities including study-abroad programmes, student exchanges, virtual learning, joint seminars and other academic activities. The collaboration will also support joint research, curriculum development, professional development and exchanges involving faculty and staff.

ATU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amevi Acakpovi welcomed the partnership and encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities that will emerge. He highlighted the potential for students to gain additional certifications and skills alongside their studies at ATU.

The partnership will also explore areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and climate change, with programmes expected to reflect African realities and emerging workforce needs. The institutions say the collaboration is intended to strengthen international learning while making such opportunities more accessible to Ghanaian students.
