The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured that all qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country for the 2026 academic year.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Unit on May 14, 2026, GES announced that fresh students will report to school on September 18, 2026, adding that adequate preparations have been made to ensure a smooth transition into second-cycle education.
The Service stated that infrastructure, facilities, and administrative support have been put in place nationwide to accommodate all incoming students, stressing that every qualified candidate will secure placement.
GES also dismissed media reports suggesting that about 72,000 students risk not being placed, describing the claims as speculative and misleading.
It further reassured the public that the ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system will not limit access to senior high education, but rather improve teaching and learning quality while maintaining full access for all students.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to equitable, inclusive, and quality education, calling on stakeholders to support the successful implementation of the placement process.
