UEW Partners Trainora Consult to Establish International IT Testing Centre

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has entered into a strategic partnership with Trainora Consult to establish an International IT Testing Centre on its campus, aimed at expanding access to globally recognised professional certification examinations and strengthening digital skills development.

The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed under the leadership of UEW Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, is expected to position the university as a regional hub for international IT certification, emerging technologies and digital training within the Central Region and beyond.

The proposed centre will offer certification examinations from globally recognised bodies such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, AWS, EC-Council, ISC2, Pearson IT Specialist and the Project Management Institute (PMP/CAPM), among others.

Speaking at the ceremony to mark the partnership, Dean of the Faculty of Science Education, Prof. Arkoful Sam, described the initiative as timely and relevant to modern academic and technological needs, noting its potential to strengthen teaching, research and innovation.

The Vice-Dean, Prof. Benjamin Ghansah, highlighted the importance of increasing student participation in the programme, while the Head of the Department of ICT Education, Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake, said the initiative would give students a competitive advantage in the era of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Trainora Consult CEO, Ms. Rebecca Quartey, expressed appreciation to UEW for the partnership, assuring full commitment to the successful implementation of the project. The initiative was also facilitated by Mr. Foster Oppong Baah, Founder and CEO of Gumption Excell, who outlined strategies to enhance visibility and uptake.

Under the agreement, Trainora Consult will equip, brand and operate the testing facility, while UEW will provide infrastructure and institutional support to ensure its smooth running.
