The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has confirmed the death of Senior Lecturer Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and his teaching assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, following a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge on the Cape Coast-Accra highway.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the university said management received the news with profound shock and deep sorrow.
Dr. Agyemang was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning and was described as a highly respected academic known for his dedication to teaching, research, and service to the university community.
UCC noted that his invaluable contributions and presence would be deeply missed by colleagues, students, and all who had the privilege of working with him.
Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, who also lost his life in the accident, was a National Service Person and a graduate of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning. The university said he completed his studies the previous year and distinguished himself as the overall best graduating student of the department.
Management of UCC extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the university community’s thoughts and prayers during the difficult period.
The university also appealed to the public, especially the media, to be circumspect and sensitive in reporting the incident.
