Students of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Programme at the School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences (SBBS), University of Health and Allied Sciences (University of Health and Allied Sciences), Ho, have undertaken a community outreach programme aimed at supporting children in need through a charity initiative dubbed “A Day of Impact.”
The exercise, organised by the Ghana Biochemistry Students Association (GHABSA–UHAS), took place on February 13, 2026, and reflected the group’s commitment to service, empathy, and social responsibility.
The first phase of the outreach saw the students visit the Children’s Ward of the Ho Teaching Hospital, where they donated food items and spent time engaging young patients to uplift their spirits.
The students also interacted closely with caregivers and hospital staff, creating a supportive and cheerful atmosphere for children undergoing treatment.
The team later proceeded to the Madamfo Children’s Home, where they donated essential items including food supplies, clothing, toiletries, and stationery to support the welfare and education of the children.
Beyond the donations, the students engaged the children in storytelling, mentorship, and recreational activities, creating a lively environment filled with joy and encouragement.
GHABSA–UHAS described the initiative as part of its broader mission to develop not only academically strong students but also socially responsible future health professionals.
The association expressed appreciation to all contributors and participants, noting that the success of the outreach was made possible through collective effort and shared compassion.
