The University of Health and Allied Sciences School of Dentistry has organised a free oral health outreach programme at Adaklu-Helekpe to mark World Oral Health Day 2026.

The initiative, held in partnership with the Dental Unit of Ho Teaching Hospital on March 20, 2026, was themed A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life.

The programme provided free dental screening, treatment, and oral health education to residents of the community and nearby areas.

Nearly 100 people participated in the exercise, with women accounting for the majority of attendees.

A total of 51 dental procedures were carried out, including simple extractions, scaling and polishing, and one dental filling, while complicated cases were referred to Ho Teaching Hospital for further care.

Residents also received education on proper brushing techniques and prevention of dental caries.

The outreach team distributed toothpaste and other items donated by several corporate partners to support oral hygiene in the community.

Students of the UHAS School of Dentistry played a key role in the exercise, gaining practical clinical experience while serving residents.

Local leaders, including assembly and district health officials, also attended the event, highlighting the importance of partnerships in promoting community health.
