GES Approves Payment of Salary Arrears for Staff From 2024 Financial Clearance
The Ghana Education Service (Ghana Education Service) has announced approval for the payment of salary arrears owed to eligible staff following the utilisation of the 2024 financial clearance.

In a directive issued from its headquarters on April 20, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors, GES indicated that the approval was granted by the Ministry of Finance in line with arrangements communicated through the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.

The arrears cover the period from August 2024 to November 2025 and are expected to be paid in instalments.

According to the schedule provided, the payments will be spread across five instalments, with four months of arrears to be paid in May, June, July, and August respectively.

GES has directed all Regional Directors to inform Heads of Schools to ensure that all eligible staff are properly notified about the arrangement.

The service noted that the approval is part of efforts to settle outstanding obligations to staff and improve financial administration within the education sector.

The directive was issued under the authority of the Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Smiles Dzisi, on behalf of the Director-General.
