Bawku Gun Attack Leaves One Dead, Several Market Women Injured

Unknown gunmen have attacked a group of market women returning from trading activities in Bawku, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The victims, all residents of the area, were said to be returning to the township when they were ambushed and shot at by the attackers.

One woman died instantly from gunshot wounds, while several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for emergency treatment.

Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to restore order, with investigations underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.

Although the exact motive is yet to be established, some residents suspect the incident may be linked to tensions affecting local trading activities, but the police have not confirmed this.

The Ghana Police Service is expected to release further details after preliminary investigations.

The attack has heightened fear and tension in the area, which has in recent years experienced periodic security disturbances, especially involving disputes and violence affecting civilians and traders.
