The National Service Authority has announced a partnership with Absa Bank Ghana and the National Service Personnel Association to provide an overdraft facility for active National Service Personnel across the country.

According to a statement issued on April 17, 2026, the initiative is aimed at easing the impact of delays in the monthly allowance payment cycle by giving personnel access to funds when payments are delayed.

Under the arrangement, qualifying personnel will be eligible for an overdraft of up to 85 percent of their monthly National Service allowance.

The Authority stated that the facility will come with zero interest during the delay period, no collateral requirement, and automatic repayment once allowances are released.

Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, said the partnership was designed to ensure that no service person is left stranded because of timing gaps in allowance payments.

Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, Edward Nartey Botchway, said the collaboration seeks to reduce the financial pressure many young graduates face when allowances are delayed.

The facility is available to active personnel with an Absa Ignition Account, which the bank described as a youth-focused account with no maintenance fees and additional benefits.

The National Service Authority said it remains committed to improving service delivery and ensuring timely payment of allowances through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
