The University of Ghana has officially opened applications for undergraduate admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The university announced that prospective applicants, parents, guardians, and the general public can now apply for admission into its various undergraduate programmes.
According to the university, applicants with WASSCE, SSSCE, Cambridge O and A Levels, International Baccalaureate, and other recognised high school qualifications are eligible to apply. Candidates who will be writing their examinations in 2026 are also eligible to submit applications as awaiting results applicants.
UG stated that applicants seeking admission into full-time degree programmes must obtain credit passes in the four core subjects comprising English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies, in addition to three relevant elective subjects.
For regular admissions, applicants are required to obtain an aggregate of 24 or better, while some distance education programmes may consider aggregates up to 30 depending on the programme.
The university further noted that certain highly competitive programmes including courses in the College of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Laws, B.Sc. Administration, B.Sc. Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine are designated as first-choice programmes.
UG also announced multiple entry pathways including mature applicants, diploma-to-degree admissions, Higher National Diploma top-up admissions, and distance education programmes across regional learning centres.
Mature applicants must be at least 25 years old, provide proof of age, complete the University of Ghana Access Course, and pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination.
The university advised applicants to carefully study admission guidelines and programme requirements before completing their applications through the official admissions portal.
