Abraham Norman Nortey, CEO of the Visionary Norman Foundation, has provided financial assistance to 20 tertiary students for the 2025/2026 academic year, covering full and partial tuition across several public universities in Ghana.

Beneficiaries were drawn from leading institutions including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, University for Development Studies, and University of Education, Winneba. The support package, valued at GH¢64,312.74, also included application fee assistance for some students, ensuring they could continue or secure admission without financial obstacles.

Several beneficiaries were reportedly at risk of deferring or discontinuing their studies before receiving the support, highlighting the widening affordability gap in Ghana’s tertiary education system. This initiative builds on the foundation’s previous interventions, which assisted 10 students in 2023/2024 and 24 students in 2024/2025, demonstrating a sustained commitment to human capital development.

Analysts note that while private contributions are impactful, they underscore structural funding challenges within the education sector. Nortey’s initiative emphasizes youth empowerment through education, considered vital for boosting productivity, reducing inequality, and strengthening Ghana’s workforce.

The Visionary Norman Foundation’s intervention reinforces the importance of private support in expanding access to higher education, complementing public efforts amid constrained state resources.
