President John Dramani Mahama officially launched the national fundraising campaign at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Friday night. The initiative, themed "One Nation, One Team," aims to raise $30 million to ensure the Black Stars are fully resourced for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The event saw a massive show of support from Ghana’s private sector and entertainment icons:
• Engineers & Planners: Leading the charge, Ibrahim Mahama’s firm pledged $5 million as the headline sponsor.
• Gold Fields Ghana: Committed $2 million for immediate support, with an additional $1 million slated for next year.
• The Creative Sector: Dancehall rivals turned partners, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, stole the show with donations of $101,000 and $100,000 respectively.
• The Goal: The funds are earmarked for high-performance training, logistics, and a special initiative to transport Ghanaian fans to the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Road Ahead
Ghana has been drawn into Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, 2026, in Toronto. To encourage public participation, a national World Cup raffle was also unveiled—fans can enter by dialing *899#.
