The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has appealed to the Universities Senior Staff Association to suspend their ongoing strike following the governmentโs payment of part of the outstanding financial obligations owed to members.
According to the Minister, the payments made today demonstrate governmentโs commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the association and restoring normalcy across public universities. He urged the leadership of the Senior Staff Association to reconsider their industrial action in the interest of students and the academic calendar.
The strike, which has affected administrative and essential services in several public universities, has disrupted academic activities and raised concerns among students and parents. Hon. Iddrisu expressed optimism that continued dialogue and good faith efforts would lead to a swift resolution of the remaining issues.
He further assured the association that government remains committed to settling all outstanding matters and strengthening collaboration with university stakeholders to ensure stability in the tertiary education sector.
