The University of Education, Winneba has awarded scholarships to 10 students from the Effutu and Ajumako traditional areas under its Vice-Chancellor’s Community Initiative Programme (VCCIP).
The beneficiaries were selected from a pool of applicants for the 2025/2026 academic year after a competitive screening process.
According to the university, the initiative is designed to support needy but brilliant students while promoting access to higher education and community development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Stephen Jobson Mitchual described the scholarship as a commitment to nurturing future professionals who will contribute to national development.
He urged beneficiaries to demonstrate academic excellence and discipline, noting that the support will be withdrawn if performance standards are not met.
The scholarship covers tuition and accommodation and will run through to the completion of the beneficiaries’ bachelor’s degrees, provided they maintain good academic standing.
UEW officials say the programme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen educational opportunities in its host communities of Effutu and Ajumako.
