The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) hosted the maiden edition of the Ghana Business Leaders’ Conclave as part of its UPSA@60 celebrations, with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, calling for integrity, ethical governance and principled leadership to drive sustainable business growth and national development.

Held under the theme “Leading with Integrity: Negotiation, Mediation and Ethical Governance for Business Sustainability,” the event brought together business leaders, policymakers, academics, students and industry stakeholders to discuss leadership and institutional sustainability.

Delivering the keynote address, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stressed the importance of trust, discipline and accountability in building strong institutions, noting that leadership should focus on long-term development rather than short-term interests.

He stated that business growth alone would not guarantee national progress, adding that the moral character and ethical decisions of leaders would play a critical role in shaping Ghana’s future.

“Business without integrity is a danger to society, leadership without humility is arrogance, and prosperity without ethics is fragile,” he said while urging leaders to restore trust and credibility in both public and corporate institutions.

Drawing from Asante governance traditions, he explained that negotiation and mediation extend beyond technical skills and require fairness, wisdom, patience and courage.

Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, described the Conclave as a significant milestone in the university’s 60-year journey and reaffirmed UPSA’s commitment to producing ethical and transformative leaders for Africa.

The event formed a major part of the university’s anniversary celebrations under the theme “Six Decades of Transformative Education: Empowering Africa’s Future Business Leaders.”
