TTAG Warns Government Over Rising Unemployment Among Trained Teachers
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana has warned government over the growing number of trained teachers who remain unemployed after completing their studies.

According to the association, thousands of qualified teachers are still at home without postings while new batches continue to graduate from Colleges of Education across the country.

TTAG says the current recruitment process is too limited to clear the backlog, with only a small number of vacancies being announced compared to the large number of graduates awaiting placement.

The association argued that if the education system cannot absorb the increasing number of trained teachers, then the continued expansion of teacher training should be reconsidered.

It also called for the restoration of automatic postings for trained teachers, saying the move would reduce delays and frustrations faced by graduates who have completed their training and national service.

TTAG further urged authorities to act urgently, noting that many basic schools still face teacher shortages despite the number of qualified teachers seeking employment.
