Central University has hosted staff and students from Njala University in a landmark visit aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and practical learning.

The engagement, held at Central University’s Mile 91 campus on April 22, 2026, focused on expanding ties between the two institutions and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

Head of Unit of Development Communication at Njala University, Claude Alusine Dimoh, said the visit was to study institutions that prioritise practical education, describing Central University as one of the universities making progress in that area.

He also recalled Njala University’s mentorship role during the early stages of Central University’s development, adding that both institutions are now seeking a stronger partnership built on mutual growth.

Delivering a keynote address, Kalil I. Fofanah described the visit as a significant step toward collaboration in an increasingly interconnected academic environment.

He thanked Njala University for its earlier support and noted that stronger cooperation between institutions can help address national development challenges.

Head of the Department of Communication and Humanities, Abu Bakarr Bundu, said the university has grown steadily since its establishment in 2014 and remains focused on practical training.

He highlighted facilities such as the university’s radio and television station, while noting that the department has produced top graduating students for three consecutive years.

Dean of the Institute of Languages and Cultural Studies at Njala University, Prof. Philip Yamba Thullah, said the institution is committed to research, mentorship, and cultural preservation.

He suggested collaboration in preserving traditional musical instruments and cultural heritage through technology-driven initiatives.

The delegation later toured Central University’s electronic library, solar farm, and broadcasting facilities before ending the visit with a friendly football match, which Central University won 4–0.

The visit is being seen as a major step in transforming a historic mentorship relationship into a new era of academic partnership.
