Dr. Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education, has officially launched a nationwide e-learning platform designed to connect all 46 Colleges of Education across Ghana. The initiative, unveiled in Accra, forms part of efforts to modernize teacher education by integrating institutions into a unified digital system that enhances access to learning resources, collaboration, and the overall quality of training.
The platform is expected to bridge gaps in teaching and learning by enabling real-time interaction, resource sharing, and improved academic coordination among colleges. It also aims to ensure that trainee teachers are exposed to digital tools and methodologies that reflect current global standards in education. By leveraging technology, the government seeks to create a more inclusive and efficient training environment for future educators.
Describing the initiative as a transformative step, Dr. Apaak stressed that the platform goes beyond the introduction of technology and represents a fundamental shift in how teachers are prepared in the country. He explained that Ghana’s education system must evolve to meet the demands of the modern world, where digital competence is essential for both teaching and learning.
He further noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda and supports the education reset policy under John Dramani Mahama. According to him, the policy prioritizes innovation, efficiency, and improved outcomes in the education sector, with teacher preparation playing a central role.
Dr. Apaak emphasized that preparing teachers for the 21st century requires a system that is digital, dynamic, and data-driven. He added that equipping educators with the right tools and skills will not only improve classroom delivery but also enhance student learning outcomes across the country.
The nationwide rollout of the platform marks a significant step in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen its education sector through technology, while positioning teachers to effectively respond to the evolving needs of learners in a rapidly changing world.
