The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Ramapo College of New Jersey following a courtesy visit by a delegation from the American institution led by its President, Cindy R. Jebb.
The visit marks 25 years of collaboration between the two institutions, with both sides seeking to deepen and expand the impact of their relationship through renewed academic and institutional engagement.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Jebb emphasised that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties and ensure the partnership remains meaningful and sustainable. She noted that fostering long-term collaboration between the two universities is key to enhancing global academic experiences for students and staff.
Also speaking at the meeting, Susan Hangen, Dean of the School of Humanities and Global Studies at Ramapo College, highlighted the transformative value of international exposure. She encouraged the expansion of study abroad opportunities to allow students to engage with diverse cultures and perspectives.
The Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Rita Akosua Dickson, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the partnership, describing it as impactful and enduring. She underscored the role of universities in shaping globally competent leaders and stressed the importance of equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
Reflecting on the origins of the collaboration, Kofi Owusu-Daaku noted that the relationship dates back to 2002, when the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed. He described the partnership as successful and full of potential for further growth.
The engagement concluded with discussions on practical ways to strengthen cooperation across various colleges within KNUST, focusing on expanding academic exchanges, joint programmes, and broader institutional collaboration.
Several senior officials from KNUST were present at the meeting, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor David Asamoah, Registrar Benjamin Boampong Owusu, and other representatives from the university’s colleges and administrative units.
The renewed commitment signals a shared vision between KNUST and Ramapo College to advance global education, promote cross-cultural exchange, and strengthen academic excellence through sustained international partnership.
