The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has inaugurated a newly reconstituted Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee with a strong directive for members to uphold integrity, fairness, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling all related matters.
She stressed that sexual harassment and misconduct have no place within the University and urged the Committee to ensure that every complaint is treated promptly and fairly, following due process. Beyond investigations and case handling, she encouraged members to place strong emphasis on education, awareness creation, and preventive measures to help build a safer and more inclusive academic environment.
The Committee is chaired by Prof. Awo Mana Asiedu and brings together representatives from various academic, administrative, and student bodies, including experts from gender studies, psychology, law, public health, and student leadership structures.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the reconstituted team carries an important responsibility not only to respond to complaints but also to strengthen the culture of respect and accountability across the University community.
The inauguration reinforces the University’s commitment to safeguarding students and staff while promoting a campus environment rooted in dignity, safety, and mutual respect.
