Central University has secured a major accreditation milestone after being awarded the Engineering Educational Unit Certificate by the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), reinforcing its commitment to quality engineering education and academic excellence.

The certificate was presented during an official visit to GhIE on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, to a delegation from the University comprising senior officials from the School of Engineering and Technology and related academic units.

The Engineering Educational Unit Certificate is issued to tertiary institutions that register with GhIE for structured support in delivering engineering programmes. It serves as formal recognition that an institution meets the required standards for engineering education, professional training, and industry relevance.

Receiving the certification marks a significant step in strengthening Central University’s engineering programmes and aligns its training with national and international professional standards. The award also reflects the University’s growing role in STEM education and its commitment to producing competent engineering graduates for industry and national development.

Speaking during the presentation, both Central University and GhIE reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration to enhance engineering education, professional ethics, and practical training for students.

Central University further highlighted its continued investment in engineering education through its School of Engineering and Technology, which aims to equip students with technical expertise, innovation capacity, and problem-solving skills needed to address modern engineering challenges.

The University, which has produced over 34,000 graduates across various disciplines and currently enrols more than 8,000 students, continues to expand its academic offerings, including its Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering programme designed to support infrastructure development and technological advancement in Ghana.
