Some final-year students of Sekondi College who missed the first part of their WASSCE Chemistry examination have expressed deep emotional distress, describing the experience as devastating and life-altering.
The students were unable to sit for the paper after arriving late due to heavy rainfall that disrupted movement on the morning of the examination. Many now fear the incident may significantly affect their overall academic performance.
“I feel like my life has ended,” one student said, adding that despite the setback, she remains determined to continue with the practical examination to keep her future hopes alive.
Others were too overwhelmed to speak, with some seen in tears outside the examination hall. Students who were able to write the paper offered words of encouragement and solidarity, urging their colleagues to stay focused for the remaining examinations.
The incident has left students divided on whether to proceed with the practical paper, though some believe continuing is the only option left despite the setback.
School authorities are reportedly preparing a formal complaint to the Western Regional Office of the Ghana Education Service, while the school chaplain continues to provide counselling and emotional support to the affected students.
