KNUST School of Business Launches DIGILAB to Boost Students’ Digital Competencies
The KNUST School of Business (KSB) has officially launched its Digital Skills Lab (DIGILAB), a major initiative aimed at equipping students with practical digital competencies needed to thrive in today's rapidly evolving digital economy.

The launch represents another significant step in KSB's vision of becoming a leading business school in Africa and a centre for digital innovation and skills development.

Speaking at the event, the Dean of KSB, Professor Ahmed Agyapong, described the facility as a strategic investment in the future of students. He noted that the lab goes beyond being just a new facility, reflecting the school's commitment to preparing graduates for a technology-driven world.

According to him, a tracer study conducted by the school revealed that while KSB graduates excel academically, many lack the practical digital skills increasingly demanded by employers. The Digital Skills Lab was therefore established to bridge this gap and help produce job creators rather than job seekers.

Dr. John Serbe Marfo, Coordinator of DIGILAB, emphasized that the facility will serve as a hub for practical learning, innovation, collaboration and digital empowerment. He explained that students will receive training in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital marketing, cybersecurity, cloud computing, business intelligence and digital entrepreneurship.

He added that the initiative is designed to improve graduate employability by ensuring students leave KSB with both academic knowledge and industry-relevant digital capabilities.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah commended the School of Business for its foresight, describing the lab as a timely intervention that aligns with the university's commitment to digital transformation and graduate readiness.

He stressed that digital competencies are no longer optional but essential for leadership, innovation and success in the 21st century, adding that the facility will create opportunities for students and staff to develop relevant skills in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and communication technology.

The establishment of DIGILAB is expected to foster creativity, entrepreneurship and technological advancement while positioning KSB graduates to compete effectively in the global workforce.
